Subclass 173 Contributory Parent (Temporary) visa

Key words: Australian Contributory Parent Visa; Sponsored Parent Visa; Temporary Parent Visa; Subclass 173 Visa
Processing times: New applications that meet the criteria to be queued are likely to take approximately 5 years to be processed.
Suitable for: parents of Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or eligible New Zealand citizens

Introduce

The processing of the Contributory Parent Temporary Subclass 173 visa is given priority over that of a regular parent visa application, which allows the eligible parents to migrate to Australia in a shorter period of time and stay with their children in Australia permanently. In addition, eligible parents can obtain a subclass 173 visa by paying a lower second visa application charge than that for the permanent Contributory Parent subclass 143 visa. The subclass 173 visa holders then have 2 years to apply for a subclass 143 visa and pay the rest of the second visa application charge, which help reduce their financial pressure.

Condition

1. There is no age limit for this visa.

2. You must meet the health requirement.

3. You must meet the balance-of-family test.

4. You must be sponsored by an eligible child and the sponsorship is approved.
