The offshore Permanent Adoption Subclass 102 visa lets an adopted child of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen move to live with their parents in Australia permanently. The child must be under 18 years when adopted, when they apply and when a decision is made.
Applicant (the adopted child):
1. You must be under 18 years when adopted, when you apply and when a decision is made.
2. You must live outside Australia.
3. You must meet health and character requirements.
Sponsor (the parent):
1. The sponsor must be an Australian citizen or eligible New Zealand citizen, or hold an Australian permanent visa, and must have no criminal record.
2. If the child has been adopted through an expatriate adoption, the adoption must be consistent with the relevant laws and regulations of an overseas country, and the adoptive parent must have been living outside Australia for more than 12 months before lodging the visa application.
3. The child must have been adopted under the Hague Adoption Convention or through an intercountry adoption with the involvement of an Australian state or territory central authority.
